An explanation is a lot easier to understand if you illustrate it. This is available especially if you are trying to describe a software's interface or if you need to create a tutorial. The best way to show how something is done on a computer is by recording the screen as you perform your tasks. BSR Screen Recorder features multiple recording modes which will come in very useful. Besides capturing your screen, you can also capture a certain area, a designated window and more.

It may take some time to download the 28.9 Mb package with a slower Internet connection, but you can make up for lost time with the straightforward installation process. After specifying a destination path and what shortcuts to place, the software will be installed immediately.

A preview of your recording is displayed on the main area of the program's interface. This will help you get a better idea on how the recording will look like. BSR Screen Recorder lets you capture the whole screen, a defined region, a selected window or record picture in picture. These modes can be selected from a drop menu on the toolbar. After choosing the picture in picture or the region capture mode, you can define the area which will be captured by drawing a rectangle on the screen. You can then resize it however you want by dragging its edges and when you are done, simply click the OK button on the rectangle's bottom edge. The area you select will be displayed in the preview area of the interface and if you are satisfied, you can go right ahead and click the Rec button on the interface. The program will then record the area selected with the rectangle tools. Something you will not find in other similar software is a window recording feature. This tool lets you select a window or a certain item on it (a toolbar or menu) by simply clicking on it. When you start the recording, the program will only capture what you are doing on that window and nothing else.

The recording process can be stopped either by clicking the stop button on the interface's toolbar or with a hot key. After stopping it, there is a good number of tasks you can perform, including playing it in the main window, saving it as an .avi file, converting it to a different format and more. BSR Screen Recorder also features a built in video editor (Movie Lab) which you can use to insert basic effects or cut certain sequences. All post recording features can be accessed fast due to a simple wizard, which can be launched with a toolbar button. It will display all available features during the first step and you can select them with the aid of radio button. Some of them will be launched immediately after the first step and other can also be accessed from the toolbar as well.

Pros

BSR Screen Recorder places many features at your disposal. Besides recording the whole screen, it lets you record a certain area which you can define. Overall, the software is not complicated and it can be used even by a first time user.

Cons

There are too many tips which pop up by default. Although they are useful, they can get a bit annoying after some time. BSR Screen Recorder enables you to record anything on your screen in a simple and flexible way. After recording, it will offer a wide range of tools which will help you create a professional looking project.
